

Sandra Annan, MPH

Sandra Annan currently works as a General Epidemiologist with the office of state Epidemiology team under the Division of Public and Behavioral Health. She helps to produce communication tools to amplify Monkeypox prevention. She also supports the School Absenteeism Project with the Nevada Department of Education. Prior to this role, she was a Vaccine Demand Strategist through her contract with the CDC Foundation where she worked with the Governor’s office to make COVID-19 vaccines accessible for Nevadans and helped increase the COVID-19 vaccination rates. She has been an advocate for young children through her roles at University of Nevada Extension (UNR Extension) and Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD). During her time at UNR Extension she taught children about health, nutrition, and physical activity in the Healthy Kids Early Start program. At SNHD, she promoted healthy diets, breastfeeding, and enhancing early cognitive functioning among mothers and their children. She has worked on numerous community outreach projects over the years, such as Rebuilding Together of Southern NV's National Rebuilding Day and Make a Difference Day, and UNLV's National Service Day. She worked with Laura Valentino to plan and coordinate the first ever Western Regional Academic Health Department Summit.
